So last week I really laid it out on the line being honest in the fact that I had not really been following all the healthy things that I needed to be doing. It is time for me to put my best foot forward and take some action. It is great to talk about the things that need to be done in order to be healthier in our everyday lives but to actually put it into action is another thing. I know that I am at that point and hope that others will join me on this path as well.
I spoke last week about how we all need to take baby steps and not change everything all at once. I stand behind that 100% and am going to be doing that. I am starting to realize that my next big event coming up is San Diego Comic Con. I would like to be able to enjoy the event having lost some weight and feeling fitter than I do now. I am not the type of person who looks at a number and says that I need to be a certain weight to be happy with who I am; I am one who says that I need to get more physically active in order to enjoy life better.
It has been stated that exercising releases endorphins which make you feel really good, similar to a “high” from street drugs without the life threatening side effects. This is something that I have been missing out on and want back in my life. When I was heading to the gym on a daily basis along with doing some walking and video game exercising, I was much happier than I have been as of late. I want to be back there and I think that video games are the answer for me.
I am able to do Dance Central 3 in the privacy of my own home. I am able to get a really good work out and enjoy myself. Not only that I have a few other games like Junk Fu, Kinect Sports: Season 2, and Your Shape Fitness that I can add to the mix. If I can commit to doing at least 30 minutes a day on one or any combination of these games, I know that I am going to be getting a good workout. Do this coupled with taking the dog for a walk, at least twice a day, and this program will really start moving me in the right direction.
Don’t get me wrong, I want to get back to heading to the gym on a daily basis and enjoying the classes that they have, but I have to take those baby steps that I was talking about last week. I know that I can commit to this type of exercise for at least two weeks; it is said that it takes 21 days to make something a habit, and I will do more. At the two week mark, I want to reevaluate what I am doing and make sure that there is nothing that I need to do different. Have I been actually doing the exercise that I committed to do and how is it making me feel?
With making this pact, with myself and you reading this, I know that I cannot let us all down. I am doing an experiment to see how it makes me feel. Sure I will report back if I have lost any weight, but I am not going to change much in my diet aside from eating at home more often as I want to do more cooking. It is not an exact science, but it is something that is going to change the way I feel about myself and it is going to make a change for the better.
So are you willing to join me on this journey and make this pact as well? If so, I am more than willing to encourage you in whatever manner you feel is best for you. Let me know in the comments and we can go from there.
Good luck! You got this!
I was actually just thinking of getting a little Dance Central 3 in. I haven’t played in forever. But sadly, I talked myself out of it and sat down with my laptop instead.
So many things to do!
I know at this point I can’t commit to 30 minutes everyday. BUT, I will work towards 30 minutes, 3 days a week for two weeks as an experiment as well. Hopefully, feeling better will help me want to do more.
Pick a DC3 song Kelly! I’ll make sure to jump on today and beat your score.
I’m with you on this! I’m ready to get back on track.
I can’t wait to be able to do our WII Dance!! As soon as the doc releases me I am with you. I am a walker and I am hoping to get in a couple walks everyday.
